The Denver Broncos have informed Zach Wilson and his representation that they will not pick up the fifth-year option in Wilson's contract, according to sources.

Wilson was the No. 2 pick in 2021 by the New York Jets.

The option would have been for a guaranteed $22.408 million. By NFL rules, the deadline to pick up the fifth-year option for 2021 first-round picks is Thursday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released Zay Jones, less than a week after drafting a wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft.

The Jaguars save $4.49 million against the salary cap by releasing Jones, who signed a three-year contract in March 2022. Jacksonville also released kicker Joey Slye.

The Jaguars drafted LSU receiver Brian Thomas, Jr. with the 23rd overall pick Thursday.
